The story of audiobook Za Darmo Wulgari begins with a murder mystery that has its origins in a small, conservative town called Cokertme, situated in the southern province of Marmaris. The murder mystery revolves around the murder of a shopkeeper by a hooded stranger. The culprit and the victim are two different ethnic Turks, so the murder mystery is about ethnicity more than anything else. This is one reason why the book translated into Turkish is called Za Darmo Gazcinlar.

A coffee pot that looks just like the original one displayed in the cafe in Turkey that Za had seen in her trip to Germany several years before is also displayed.

A conversation between the main characters, initially in Turkish takes place in English, but when the dialogues are later in German, both languages are understandable. Zia and Momen, cousins of the deceased Zia and Mona, have been hired by the owner of Cokertme Yalet Gabar to perform an investigation of the murder that took place some twenty-five years ago. While there, they meet Saleh, who happens to be another cousin of theirs and was working as a security guard in the Gurden police station at the time of the murder. The security guards take note of something unusual about the murder suspect, and they tip off the police, who then bring Saleh to the station to identify him.

After the murder, Mona flees from the scene, and Zia’s body is discovered in the nearby forest. The murder has been solved, but Saleh manages to escape and takes refuge in his aunt’s house, where he plans to kill Zia’s husband, Jezsel, whom he has come to love since their early college days. However, Saleh’s aunt’s husband, Jarir, arrives just in time to save Zia and flee from Saleh, who tries to enter the house. As Saleh threatens to kill everyone in the house if Jarir is not given over to him, Saleh flees and goes into exile in his aunt’s land. Several years later, Saleh returns to Turkey, where he marries Emine, the sister of Mona, and becomes a father to two daughters.
