The Vampire Diaries Audiobook – A Story of Love, Loss, and Twilight Phenomena

In Xanth: The Vanishing Files, Piers Anthony, author of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen series of fantasy novels begins the story with a twist you won’t see in his other works. In this one, the first person narrator narrates, instead of the lead character. This is a bold move on Anthony’s part. However, it makes sense in the context of the story and of the overall concept of the series. Here is a brief synopsis of the plot for your review.

The story starts off with a bang as you meet up with an old friend of mine, inspector Tommy Clough, who is on assignment from London to investigate the murder of a Chinese merchant. He and his associate, Jonny Price, find themselves in the dark forest of the London division of the police called Scotland Yard. They are not really sure what they are seeing, but their initial confusion clears as they see that a strange pale figure in a navy uniform is leading them to the scene of the crime. It is later revealed that this is the vampire that killed Tommy Clough.

Once Price and Clough arrive at the scene, they are greeted by a member of the paranormal police force, Inspector Kaye, who wants them to get onto his list of suspects. This is where things take off, literally. As they all gather outside, a mysterious figure in a black coat attacks them. The two detectives manage to hold her down long enough for Price to draw his gun and shoot her through the heart.

As the investigation proceeds, Price discovers that there is more to this story than he first believed. The mystery that unfolds involving this mysterious killer has several layers, which I’m sure many readers will be interested in. I also enjoyed how the story was told through the point of view of Price’s character, rather than the more traditional point of view of a detective or police officer. While this Audiobook didn’t quite reach the same level of popularity as the Twilight Audiobook series, it did make some interesting points and got me hooked on the story. The main character, Price, does an excellent job at tying up the plot, while still leaving the reader wanting more.

The remainder of the novel is told through the point of view of Kaye and Price’s other suspects. These suspects each have something different to add to this crazy puzzle that is unfolding before their very eyes. These characters were interesting enough to keep me reading though, despite the many twists and turns that the story took. The villain in this Audiobook was also intriguing, if not slightly over done. This one didn’t quite reach the heights of the others but still made an impact due to its clever way of bringing life to the story. In a lot of ways, The Vampire Diaries was just as good as the Twilight Saga.

The Vampire Diaries Audiobook is a quality story, that managed to keep me focused on the storyline rather than the many twists and turns that happened in the story. This Audiobook is available for your listening pleasure from Audible. If you are looking for something new and exciting to read, or even want to listen to some Twilight fan fiction, then I highly recommend checking out the amazing story of The Vampire Diaries Audiobook. It’s just as good as the books and is written by the same talented team of writers.
